Steve Burnage is a fellow of the Chartered College of Teachers, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and an education consultant, inspector and author with over 35 years’ experience of teaching and school leadership. Steve is the principal examiner for educational leadership for Cambridge University and the lead inspector of schools for the British Council. He frequently presents keynote talks at international conferences, runs training workshops for teachers and school leaders internationally; and has school leadership and teacher training materials published by TES Global and Mashall Cavendish Education Press.

The role of a school leader has changed significantly in recent years. In the past, school leaders were primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a school. However, in today’s world, school leaders are also responsible for addressing a wide range of challenges, including:
The changing needs of students
The demands of accountability
The need to innovate
This presentation will discuss each of these challenges in more detail and provide some tips for school leaders on how to overcome these challenges in their own schools.
In order to meet the challenges of 2023, schools need to be innovative. This means that school leaders need to be willing to try new things and take risks. They also need to be able to think outside the box and come up with new ways to improve student learning. School leaders need to create a culture of innovation in their schools. They also need to provide teachers with the resources and support they need to be innovative.
This presentation will provide school leaders with the tools they need to address these challenges with confidence.
