UK Teachers Academy * – Senior Education Officer Mr. Sercan Oz has a rich background of more than 10 years of experience in education and teaching with various learner groups and contexts as an English Language teacher, school leader, and trainer. He worked for different schools, colleges, and international schools. He is a certified teacher trainer and quality assurance specialist in education. He is Senior Education Officer for Stirling Schools monitoring and supervising teacher professional development, quality assurance, educational accreditation, curriculum development, and educational policymaking. He is also a trainer and country coordinator for UK Teachers Academy.
Seminar Title: Bringing Happiness into the Classroom
Certain hormones are known to help promote positive feelings, including happiness and pleasure. This seminar will focus on some classroom and teaching techniques that are supposed to stimulate these hormones in order to create a positive learning atmosphere that will promote self-directed learning and self-confidence in students. These hormones and their related functions can be listed as following: dopamine for positive incentives and feedback, oxytocin for positive teacher-student interaction, serotonin for self-esteem and sense of belonging in the classroom, and endorphin for coping with and enjoying challenges for students.
