Mr. Sercan Oz brings a wealth of experience in education, working with diverse learner groups in various contexts as an English Language teacher, school leader, and trainer. He has served in different schools, colleges, and international institutions, specializing in international education. As a certified teacher trainer and quality assurance specialist, he has made significant contributions to teacher development and educational quality. Currently, he is an ELL teacher in the Multilingual Learners Department at Indiana Math and Science Academy.

As classrooms become increasingly diverse, the need for inclusive practices to support multilingual learners and newcomers is more pressing than ever. This presentation highlights the importance of providing accommodations and tailored support for multilingual learners and newcomers in K-12 education. Drawing from The Terminal’s Viktor Navorski, who adapted to a foreign environment with resilience, we’ll explore how educators can create adaptive, supportive learning spaces. By embracing flexibility and innovation, schools can empower multilingual students to thrive, turning the challenges of diversity into opportunities for growth and enrichment in education. We’ll discuss how schools can foster supportive, flexible learning spaces for diverse learners. Topics include adaptive teaching strategies, technology integration, and the role of emotional well-being. This session aims to inspire educators and leaders to view linguistic and cultural diversity as a catalyst for growth and innovation, creating inclusive global classrooms.
