Seminar Title: Innovative Pedagogy as a promising key for Sustainable Education system
Abstract: For the last few decades in Iraq and Kurdistan region, students are suffering from unsustainable, Teacher-Centered, classical way of teaching and learning. Unrest policy, Economy instability, prioritizing other unnecessary things over the education program and lack of public awareness led the situation to its worse where no respect left for Universities and institutions. Also, the mindset for majority of our students is to receive a paper called certificate which will ultimately produce inactive citizen with no contribution in enhancing the quality of life in our society. As a result, more No-productive students will be added to different government and private sectors without inventing a single item for sustainable development in terms of environment, economy and society. Therefore, a long-term reform in education program is required to enhance the level of education at the schools and instructions. This will start with the wiliness from top authorities to encourage such model of education that allow students to be active member in the society with his/her findings via student-centered approach. On the other hands, Universities and institutions must start such reform with redesigning the curriculum of the entire education program by updating it with the recognized international Accreditation Agencies and taking more benefits from the educational programs in developed countries and applied in the context of our society with a realistic approach for all the internal and external factors in order to have a sustainable education program for the current and future generation.
