The Hidden Costs: Unpacking the Drawbacks of AI in Education
Abstract / پوختە / الملخص :
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the educational landscape, offering innovative tools and personalised learning experiences, helping instructors with lesson plans, evaluation criteria, and feedback. However, alongside these benefits lie hidden costs that could undermine the quality and equity of education. This presentation showcases the significant drawbacks of AI in education, including the overreliance on AI, the erosion of human interaction, the perpetuation of biases, privacy risks, and the reduction of teacher autonomy. Additionally, it explores how AI can exacerbate educational inequalities and overstandardize learning, limiting creativity and critical thinking. Through covering these challenges, the presentation aims to highlight the importance of a cautious and balanced approach to integrating AI in education, and make sure that its implementation enhances the educational experience, not diminishes it.
